At Nash Ranch Pumpkin Patch in Redding, California, the Nash Ranch Mud Run sends families into a muddy obstacle course on a September morning, with multiple heats spread through the morning. The route is just under 5k, making it a playful local challenge rather than a long-distance race. Registration covers the obstacles and Mud Run swag.
The course runs through fields and hills, includes creek crossings, and sends runners under and over structures around the ranch. Nearly all ages are welcome, with vendors, children's activities, food, and drinks making it a family event as much as a race. The Active 20-30 Club of Redding now organizes it to support local children's programs, after the Redding Sunrise Rotary ran it for nine years.
