À propos de cette course
The Palo Duro Trail Run series features races within Palo Duro Canyon State Park, with runners returning to the canyon in different seasons for three distinct events. The original race provides 50 Mile, 50K, and 25K distances. The Fire-Ball event includes a half marathon and 4-mile option, and 3 Chaparrals offers a fixed-time format over either three or six hours.
The 3 Chaparrals race utilizes a 4-mile loop starting and finishing at Mack Dick pavilion, where runners aim to complete as many loops as possible within the allotted time. Portions of the trail can be technical, crew support is limited to the start/finish area, and pacers are prohibited. This race honors Red Spicer, Bob Givens, and Tom Lowry, three early trail figures in Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The long-distance Palo Duro Trail Run is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and the Fire-Ball Half and 4 Mile revives the former Spring Trail Run previously held in the canyon by the Lone Star Runners Club.
