Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay 2027

Cyclists depart Selma first, followed by relay teams and solo runners covering the full 51 miles to Montgomery, concluding at the Alabama State Capitol on Dexter Avenue. The Selma to Montgomery 51 Mile Relay and Bike Ride is an annual endurance event in Alabama’s Black Belt, following the route of the Voting Rights March and open to cyclists and runners. The course traces the historic corridor from Selma to Montgomery, making the distance part race and part public act of remembrance. Recent fields have included approximately 450 cyclists and 1,000 runners, with participants coming from over 40 states and from abroad; organizers note most travel from outside Alabama. The event originated as an effort to make a group run more intentional, and it now also benefits civil-rights-related nonprofits, promotes fitness, and generates thousands of hotel stays in Selma and Montgomery.
