Trailway Trail Race

The Trailway Trail Race is a fall event held at Lake Somerville State Park, Birch Creek Unit, near Somerville, Texas. The race utilizes The Trailway and adjacent park trails, offering distances from a youth 1-mile run to 50K. Participants can select 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon, or 50K, with ruck options available for the 10K and marathon. The course follows the perimeter of Lake Somerville, crossing rolling dirt paths that alternate between open terrain and tree cover. The start and finish are located by the lake on an expansive grass area, providing ample space for spectators during and after the longer races. The park comprises two sections, Birch Creek and Nails Creek, connected by The Trailway. The race currently takes place within Birch Creek, with intentions to extend into the Nails Creek area upon the repair of a damaged bridge. A Friday evening gathering offers a relaxed pre-race event featuring a cookout and shared trail experiences.
