The Ischgl Ironbike Marathon is a two-day mountain bike event held in Ischgl, Alps. The main marathon takes place on Saturday in early August. Participants select from four distances, with the most challenging route ranking among Europe’s most demanding MTB marathons. The courses have been updated to include more trail flow, singletrack, and variety, transforming the race from a pure climb-and-grind challenge into a technical mountain-bike test.
Some sections follow old smuggler paths between Ischgl and Samnaun, adding local history and steep alpine riding to the course. Experienced licensed riders compete for the extreme distance, while shorter routes offer strong amateurs a competitive challenge. The weekend also features an elite Short Track race and a Kids & Juniors Trophy with various distances for different age groups. After almost 30 years, the Ironbike holds a cult reputation in the mountain-bike community.
