Tom Jeffery Park provides the local heart for this race, with Seventeen Seventy close by and a "little piece of paradise" atmosphere throughout the weekend. The Agnes Water Triathlon is in its 23rd year, and it still feels like an annual, not-for-profit local sporting event run entirely by dedicated local volunteers, not a polished production from elsewhere. It attracts triathletes from Central Queensland, Wide Bay, and further afield, but the atmosphere remains neighbourly.
The bike leg is mostly flat on a quiet country road closed to traffic, a detail appreciated once you are settled and aiming for a clean ride. The run transitions to local streets, offering a straightforward, town-centre finish instead of a remote challenge. First-timers, experienced athletes, grey nomads, backpackers, teams, and younger competitors all participate together, supported by a "friendly, supportive atmosphere" that truly "celebrates fitness, community spirit, and the beautiful natural surroundings."
