Iron Cove Bay forms the core of this run, featuring a flat paved path that winds between Rozelle and Drummoyne, staying close to the water throughout. BayRun Festival 2026 marks its 22nd year as "Sydney's favourite family fun run." The atmosphere leans towards a local morning gathering rather than a large-scale event, with runners, walkers, parents with prams, wheelchair users, novices, and children sharing the same shoreline pace.
The course circles the scenic Iron Cove Bay, following the foreshore with "harbour views throughout." The traffic-free route contributes to a relaxed environment for families. Children have a separate, shorter race "designed for little legs." Participants often include many parents, first-time runners, and individuals moving at various speeds. A notable feature is the dedicated dog race, reflecting the event's easygoing, community-focused spirit, held in a "safe and festive atmosphere."
