Bluff to Bar

The Bluff marks the start, with swimmers heading point-to-point along the headland toward Alexandra Headland Surf Life Saving Club. Bluff to Bar has the feel of a proper local ocean swim rather than a formal event: “real conditions, real coastline,” and enough saltwater to test swimmers. “From the Bluff to Alex, this is open water done properly.” The course is a true headland swim on the Sunshine Coast, managed and safety-supported by experienced surf lifesavers. It draws confident ocean swimmers, open-water regulars, triathletes, coastal locals, first-timers ready to step up, and junior ocean swimmers getting a shorter coastal challenge. The best quirk is also the reason it feels community-made: every entry supports local surf lifesaving and youth development at Alex Surf Club, with a finisher T-shirt waiting at the end.
