Noreuil Park and Hovell Tree Park provide Sunshine Walk with a local atmosphere, as people gather to “Keep care local and walk alongside those facing cancer.” Now in its seventh year, the event focuses on moving together for the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund, rather than racing the clock. Friends, loved ones, colleagues, families, local teams, and businesses participate as part of the group.
The main routes traverse the Murray River, Gateway Island, and Belvoir Park. Previously, the Corowa group followed “scenic tracks along the Murray River” between Corowa and Wahgunyah. The day is characterized by a steady, conversational pace, not a competitive start-line environment. Participants will encounter “Steps of Hope and Stories of Strength,” sore calves, and many walking in memory of someone or alongside someone undergoing treatment. A practical option is the DIY choice, allowing individuals to complete a route in their own community.
