The TCS Sydney Mini Marathon is part of Sydney’s road-running program, which includes the Sydney Marathon and a 10K. The event originated from The Host City Marathon, first staged as an Olympic test event. The race weekend now occurs in late August. World Athletics awards the marathon its Platinum Label, and Sydney is part of the World Marathon Majors, attracting both everyday runners and elite international competitors.
The marathon begins in North Sydney, crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge, passes Pyrmont and The Rocks, proceeds along Oxford Street and Anzac Parade toward Kingsford, and returns through Moore Park and Centennial Park to finish at the Sydney Opera House. The course was modified to be flatter, and recent editions have seen the fastest marathon times recorded in Australia. Eight runners have completed every Sydney Marathon and are known as the Blue Line Legends.
