The Maratona Internacional de Maceió is a 42 km road marathon scheduled for the first weekend of August along the seafront of Maceió, the capital of Alagoas in northeast Brazil. It is intended as the city’s first international marathon, featuring the main race on Sunday and shorter races on Saturday: options for kids, 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km. The event is open to local runners and visitors from Brazil and abroad.
The marathon begins and ends at the Jaraguá parking lot in the historic port area. Runners will proceed along the coast through Pajuçara, Ponta Verde, and Jatiúca near Posto 7, then turn back along the shoreline toward Pontal da Barra before returning to Jaraguá and repeating the route to finish the full distance. The course is designed around Maceió’s beaches, morning sea air, and long coastal avenues, making the setting as much a draw as the distance.
