The Borkener Citylauf starts and finishes on the market square in Borken, North Rhine-Westphalia. Runners follow a closed 2.5 km loop connecting the town center with the city park. This local road running event has been held since 1987, offering races from Bambini runs for young children to 5 km and 10 km options for youth and adults. The main program starts in the evening, and the flat course offers faster runners a chance at course-record prize money.
The loop crosses the inner city, enters the Stadtpark, and returns across the Marktplatz, allowing spectators to view the field multiple times from a single location. The event is designed for Borken as much as for participants: children receive medals, companies can compete in the corporate challenge, and local clubs assist in its organization with the city. The field is diverse, including first-time child runners, adult 10 km participants, and workplace teams.
