NASWUT is a self-supported trail ultra in the Swabian Forest, starting and finishing at Gasthof Zum Goldenen Ritter in Vorderbüchelberg near Spiegelberg. The loop is roughly 54 km with about 1,550 meters of climbing and descending, making it a long day on foot rather than a road race or a polished mass event. Its “Non Aided” label is important: runners must carry what they need, follow the route themselves, and treat the run as a small, low-frills challenge.
The course loops around the Lautertal, planned to include plenty of singletrack, forest paths, and natural sights. Runners pass places such as Tobelschlucht, a stream gorge with a small waterfall and a hollowed-out rock ledge, and Bodenbachschlucht, a rough rock gorge in ferny conifer forest. The ground can be muddy and slippery, so good footing matters as much as fitness. The event has a tiny, club-like feel, with past fields of about 15 runners, no bibs, no course markings, a GPX track and written route notes, a short briefing from organizer Gernot Wurst, and Swabian food back at the inn afterward.
