The Chemnitzer Adelsberglauf is a cross-country running event in Chemnitz, Germany, taking place around the Adelsberg area at the base of the Erzgebirge. It features 5 km, 10 km, and 20 km races, alongside very short children’s runs of 0.25 km and 0.35 km, catering to both adults and young runners. The event is known in German as a “Geländelauf,” indicating a run over varied terrain rather than exclusively on roads.
The course incorporates asphalt, forest paths, and field paths, with over 150 metres of elevation change throughout the terrain. The 5 km and 10 km distances are suitable for recreational runners, while the longer route demands more stamina because of its increased difficulty. SG Adelsberg e.V. organizes the race, which began in 1980 with 154 participants and maintains a local, all-ages character.
