The Fockeberglauf takes place in Leipzig each November, offering three lap-based races on a consistent, long-standing course. The primary event is 12 km across six laps. A 6 km Fitnesslauf covers three laps, and a 1.9 km Basiclauf completes one lap, providing distinct options for adults, teens, and children.
The organizer states the route has remained unchanged since the event's inception, contributing to the significance of its records: Stefan Gorzny’s 39:59 for the 12 km and Yvonne van Vlerken’s 47:42 stand as the benchmark times. The race contributes to Leipzig’s Stadtrangliste city ranking and holds a notable status within the local running and triathlon communities. The Fitnesslauf later introduced a shorter, quicker half-distance option, establishing its own records held by Rico Bogen and Bianca Bogen.
