Löwentriathlon 2026

The Löwentriathlon takes place in late May in Freilingen, Germany, also known as the Löwentriathlon Westerwald. It offers participants three adult race options: Sprint (short distance), Olympic, and Middle Distance, along with distinct courses for Kids & Juniors. The Sprint covers 500 meters swimming, 20 km cycling, and a 5 km run. The Olympic race involves 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling, and a 10 km run. The Middle Distance consists of a 2 km swim, 80 km bike, and a 20 km run. The event caters to a broad range of competitors, not just a specific type of athlete, offering beginner-friendly choices alongside longer races for seasoned triathletes. Anticipated participation is moderate: approximately 200 athletes for the Sprint and Olympic races each, and about 150 for the Middle Distance. United Teams Rhein-Neckar is the organizer, and Freilingen's setting provides the series with a contained, local atmosphere instead of a large urban feel.
