The Martinslauf Hinterweidenthal begins and ends at the Teufelstischturnhalle in Hinterweidenthal, a village in Rheinland-Pfalz. Organized by TV 04 Hinterweidenthal e.V., this local running event offers races for children and adults, ranging from 400 meters to 10 kilometers, with 5K and 10K distances available. The event's setup is straightforward and club-run, featuring limited parking at the hall, post-race showers, and refreshments at the finish.
The race serves as the concluding event of the eight-race Wasgaucup series, potentially influencing overall standings beyond the day's outcomes. One past edition saw Tobias Dreyer and Lars Holder, the top cup contenders, approach the finish together, with Dreyer securing a close sprint victory on the TVH sports field. The event has also contended with challenging autumn weather, including runners starting in heavy rain and navigating wet terrain. A small tradition involves Martinsbrezeln, sweet pretzels associated with St. Martin’s Day, offered at the finish.
