Megamarsch Düsseldorf begins at Mitsubishi Electric Halle in Düsseldorf at 07:30, sending walkers, Nordic walkers, ultrarunners, and run-walk participants on a 50 km route through North Rhine-Westphalia. While the clock is a factor, this is not a ranked race; participants have 12 hours to complete the distance, without official timing or placements. It is part of the Megamarsch series, a German extreme-hiking format that also includes 100 km events with a 24-hour limit in other locations.
The Düsseldorf route emphasizes steady progress over speed, featuring aid stations every 10 km and certificates awarded at the 20 km, 30 km, and 40 km points. Finishers get a medal. The event attracts a significant number of participants for a walking event, typically estimated between 1,001 and 3,000. The Megamarsch brand originated with an extreme hike in Cologne, is managed by Mönchengladbach-based Hundert24 GmbH, and later became associated with Infront Sports & Media.
