Uxue Trail is a short mountain race on Mount Andatza in Usúrbil, in the heart of Gipuzkoa. Runners choose between 6 and 12 kilometers, so the event works for people who want a brief trail effort as well as those ready for a longer run on local hills.
The race is built around a charitable purpose, not just a finish line. Organizers use it to raise awareness of Phelan-McDermid Syndrome, a rare disorder linked to chromosome 22q13, and to support research into the condition. The story is personal: Uxue, a girl from the village, lives with the syndrome, and the event is also pitched as a day for families, not only runners.
