Foulées du souvenir

Foulées du Souvenir is a pair of trail races in Orbey, in the Vosges mountains of eastern France, run in November around the memorial sites of the Battle of the Linge. Runners choose between a 9.5 km route with 390 metres of climbing and a tougher 27.8 km route with 1,260 metres of climbing. The longer race starts at the Salle Polyvalente d'Orbey, while the shorter one starts at the Col du Wettstein. Both races finish at the Musée Mémorial du Linge, and the finish is tied to a stated purpose: celebrating freedom at a First World War memorial site. The 27.8 km race carries UTMB World Series Qualifier and ITRA status, so it draws trail runners looking for recognized mountain-race credentials as well as local runners. A shuttle bus takes runners back from the finish to the Col du Wettstein or the Salle Polyvalente, and the post-race setup includes physiotherapists and an optional homemade meal.
