L'Ainfernale is a muddy obstacle run in Marboz, a village in the Ain department in the Bresse area of eastern France. It is held in late June and is built more like a shared challenge than a race against the clock: the course is untimed, open to participants over 12, and aimed at groups of friends, families, colleagues, and local sports people who want a physical day out without worrying about results.
The route is listed as about 5 to 6 km, with around 30 obstacles spread across nature sections, mud fields, climbing, jumping, crawling, giant inflatable structures, and river crossings. None of the obstacles is compulsory, so runners can try the ones they want and skip the ones they do not. The event is organized by ESB Marboz Football and Basket Bresse Revermont, and the day continues after the run with a meal, a concert by AndJoy, and an outdoor dance party in the evening.
