The Drop Leeds begins by removing common runner aids: phones, watches, maps, and visibility. Participants gather at Up & Running in central Leeds before a bus transports them to a secret drop location outside the city. The event is a self-navigated run back to the start, offering 6, 10, and 15-mile options calculated as straight-line distances, not the actual mileage covered.
After blindfolds are removed, participants face no directional markers, marshalled intersections, or set paths. Runners must determine their location, select routes on roads, paths, or trails, and adapt as the West Yorkshire landscape presents obstacles. The actual distance often exceeds the stated drop, making the event a test of judgment and navigation as much as running pace.
