The MTC Bristol Severn begins at Travelodge Stonehouse and follows the River Severn to Severn Beach. This 30-mile run is slightly longer than a marathon, described by the organizer as mostly flat with a single small incline. While listed as road and trail, the route utilizes the Severn Path, presenting as a riverside ultra rather than a typical city road race.
After rejoining the Severn Path, the course returns to the river at Purton, detours around Sharpness and Newton, then circles Berkeley Power Station before heading back to the river. Participants pass Oldbury-on-Severn, Oldbury Pill, and Littleton Pill, pass beneath the M48 and M4 motorway bridges, and conclude at Severn Beach. Finishers are awarded a custom medal and an MTC head visor. The event's Hall of Fame acknowledges previous fast times from a 27-mile iteration of the course.
