Potatorun

Potatorun is a 17.6 km road race in Alto Adige/South Tyrol, running from Brunico/Bruneck to Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers in late August. Its tagline offers the simplest picture: a run “from one castle to another,” with the route set below the glaciers of the Valle Aurina. Online registration is available, and the event also includes a Mini Potato Run for younger or shorter-distance runners. The course follows the Ahr river north through the valley, linking towns, castles, mountain views, and stretches of nature rather than circling a city center. Recent editions have drawn competitive local names such as Luca Clara, Markus Ploner, Simon Stifter, Greta Haselrieder, Agnes Tschurtschenthaler, and Severine Petersen, while the event also keeps the usual community-race elements in place: photos, video, results, sponsors, and social updates around World Sports Day.
