Trail della Duchessa

The Trail della Duchessa begins in Cartore at 09:30, leading participants into the mountains of the Duchessa Nature Reserve in the province of Rieti. This is a demanding trail race covering approximately 23 km with over 1,500 m of elevation gain. While the distance is moderate, the significant climbing ensures it is a challenging undertaking. The course ascends to Lago della Duchessa, circles Monte Morrone, and passes Fonte La Vena, Mercaturo, and Vado dell Asina before returning to the lake. From there, it descends through Val di Fua. Some local participants consider it among the most difficult trails in Central Italy. The event originated as a casual endeavor, expanded with support from Birra del Borgo, and is now organized by A.S.D. Terminillo Trail and More Sport A.S.D.
