Via del Marmo is a mountain-bike Gran Fondo held in Gavardo, province of Brescia, northern Italy. Known as La Via del Marmo Marathon, it takes place in June. The long course covers 47 km with 1,530 m of elevation gain, presenting a compact yet demanding off-road competition rather than a casual group ride.
The name references Italy’s marble regions. Carrara marble originates from the Apuan Alps quarries near Carrara and Lucca, with extraction dating back to Roman times. The stone was transported via the port of Luni as marmor lunensis. Historic quarry names lend character to the race's theme: Torano, Miseglia, and Colonnata are among the oldest extraction sites, and La Tagliata and Fossacava remain ancient locations. Brixia Adventure Mtb organizes the event, with entry fees in a moderate range, suitable for a local Gran Fondo targeting mountain bikers seeking a challenging, distinct course.
