Mominoki Forest Park hosts the 10th running of this midsummer forest-park marathon. It's a low-key event where beginners are genuinely welcome. The atmosphere is more of a straightforward day out than a large-scale race production: show up, run, and minimize the fuss.
The minimalist setup is part of the event's character. To keep the entry fee low, organizers have omitted automatic timing, awards, and finisher certificates. Pre-race notes are distributed via bulk email through Moshicom. In exchange, runners receive size-selectable, Japan-made IDATEN socks, the same brand used by elite runners in the New Year and Hakone Ekiden races. After finishing, participants are given cold jelly, a small midsummer treat that becomes more appealing as the temperature rises.
