The Lake Saroma 100km Ultra Marathon is an ultramarathon held in late June in eastern Hokkaido, covering 100 kilometers near Lake Saroma. It is one of Japan's largest ultra races, attracting a diverse field of runners undertaking a long, organized point-to-point challenge in a remote area.
The course crosses Kitami City, Yubetsu Town, and Saroma Town, with official maps and entry details available for participants planning their race. The event logistics accommodate the travel needs of many participants: package tours can include flights, lodging, and transport to the venue, with separate buses provided for athletes familiarizing themselves with the course and spectators following the event. Some runners extend their stay in Monbetsu or Abashiri, or use the trip to explore more of Hokkaido post-race.
