The Tachikawa Vegetable Marathon routes runners through Showa Memorial Park, starting and finishing at the Undou Hiroba. This 85th running, scheduled for early summer, offers four paid-entry distances: a half marathon, 10 km, 5 km, and a 1.5 km parent-child run. The family event divides participants into groups for older elementary school children and younger children aged three and up.
The race lives up to its name, with finishers getting seasonal vegetables and a commemorative gift. Award prizes are substantial. Open to both general runners and families, the event attracts a diverse field beyond typical adult road races. The series originated at Yumenoshima. This Tachikawa event utilizes a park location convenient to access, with Nishitachikawa Station a short walk from the race-day check-in gate.
