Banthumloop is a Friday evening running event in Bergentheim, the Netherlands, part of the village’s Festival Week. The program begins with children’s races: 500 meters for the youngest participants, 1,000 meters for ages 7 to 9, and 1,500 meters for ages 10 to 13. Later, a free 1 kilometer Fun Run is open to all ages, followed by 5 kilometer and 10 kilometer races commencing together at 19:30.
This is a small regional race, not a large city event, attracting a few hundred participants with a local audience. The organizers describe it as the coziest run in the east, reflecting its atmosphere: children, beginners, club runners, and faster 5K and 10K participants all join the same festival evening. The 5K also marks the conclusion for the Ultieme Uitdaging, a long-standing training clinic from athletics club AV Spurt’88 designed for newer runners, including those with limited sports experience.
