Dijkloop Delfzijl

Runners start in Delfzijl by the Diekloper bridge, heading out on the dike toward Eemshaven before returning. Dijkloop Delfzijl is a December road race in Groningen, offering six distances: 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, half marathon, 30 km, and marathon. The 10 km, half marathon, and marathon adhere to official KNAU race standards. The course runs alongside the Eems with the Groningen landscape on the opposite side, meaning wind and open exposure are expected. Each distance features a turnaround point at the halfway mark, simplifying the course: run out on the dike, turn, and return to Delfzijl. The event attracts close to 600 participants, including international competitors, bringing together recreational runners, distance specialists, and marathoners. The marathon is considered a challenging event for determined runners, and the organization is affiliated with the Atletiekunie.
