North C Trail takes participants through the sand and dunes of Koksijde, located on Belgium's North Sea coast. This coastal trail event occurs in early March, offering race distances from 13 km up to a full 42 km. The North C Walk is also part of the program, held the day before the main races, allowing those who prefer the beach and dunes without running to participate in the weekend's activities. The races are recognized with a UTMB Index listing, and a recent event attracted over 1,200 participants.
The course incorporates the sea, beach, dunes, and Westhoek forest areas, avoiding city streets or flat promenade paths. Its notable ascent is the Hoge Blekker, Belgium's highest dune, which serves as a distinct local landmark and presents significant loose-sand challenges. The 42 km course has 218 m of elevation gain, while the 29 km option has 540 m, suggesting the middle distance might feel more demanding than the marathon on paper. Aid stations and live timing are available, with registration managed via SQM Time / Passion for sports.
