Seterløpet begins at Solumsmoen in Sigdal and concludes at Vestre Spone idrettsplass. Runners navigate approximately 18.5 to 19 km across undulating forest terrain. The event takes place on a Sunday in September, with recreational runners starting from 09:00 and the competitive class beginning together at 11:00.
Nedre Sigdal IF and Vestre Spone IF are the organizing bodies. Transportation is provided from the finish to the start area for participants. Seterløpet is noted by its organizers as Norway's longest-running race, held without interruption since 1936, except during wartime. Previous accounts describe a well-maintained and marked course; however, wet conditions can affect the forest path's speed compared to dry-weather records. All participants are given a T-shirt, and the event maintains historical results and winner records from previous years.
