Orienteering Challenge 4 – Kairangi Farm

Kairangi Farm on Rahiri Road defines Orienteering Challenge 4: farm terrain, a specialized map, and enough fences, tracks, contours, and open ground to demand attention. This is a local foot-orienteering event in the Waikato Orienteering Club series, offering a practical, map-in-hand outing rather than a road race. You move through a sequence of checkpoints in a fixed order, using SPORTident timing. Courses range from White and Yellow navigation along clear features to Orange and Red routes with cross-country travel, contour reading, and demanding route choice. Families and beginners can approach it as a recreational walk, while experienced trail runners and navigators find the technical challenge and high-level map work they seek.
