Irena Women's Run 2026

The Irena Women's Run is a 5 km race exclusively for women, held annually in June within and around Warsaw's Łazienki Królewskie park. It commemorates Irena Szewińska, recognized as Poland's foremost track and field athlete and a prominent sportswoman of the 20th century. This event stands as Poland's largest running competition for women, drawing thousands of participants each year. It is designed to accommodate women of all ages and running abilities, not solely competitive club athletes. The route is flat and certified by the PZLA, allowing swift runners to aim for a fast time and less experienced participants to maintain a steady pace. The course winds through the green spaces of Łazienki, near Aleje Ujazdowskie and Park Ujazdowski, concluding at Agrykola. Since 2009, participants have been encouraged to follow the 'footsteps of the Champion.' The event also includes races for children and juniors, with families often present along the route to offer support. A key tradition is the emphasis on female solidarity, fostering a sense of shared effort, movement, and mutual encouragement within a public setting deeply connected to the history of Polish sports.
