Plac Legionów serves as the start and finish for the Wieluńska Piona, a 5 km street race taking place in Wieluń, Łódzkie. Held in June, the race utilizes a compact two-loop city course instead of a linear route. The participant limit is set at 300 paid runners, positioning it as a local road race with a structured format rather than a large-scale event.
The 5 km route is PZLA certified and winds through Wieluń streets such as Królewska, Targowa, POW, Staszica, Chopina, Moniuszki, Krakowskie Przedmieście, Reformacka, Zamenhofa, and Narutowicza. The event also includes dedicated children's races: 200 m for preschoolers, 400 m for grades I-III, 600 m for grades IV-VI, and 1000 m for grades VII-VIII. These races feature electronic timing and offer individual and team rankings. The organizing bodies are Stowarzyszenie Wieluń Biega, Atelier Sportu, and Gmina Wieluń.
