Vätternrundan 315 km is a large amateur cycling event beginning in central Motala on Friday evening, sending groups of riders out through the night around Sweden's Lake Vättern. It typically takes place the weekend before Midsummer, covering a full loop of 315 kilometers with approximately 1,994 meters of elevation gain.
Up to 23,000 participants register, making it the world's largest cycling event focused on amateur participation rather than professional racing. While there is no official results list, each rider uses a timing chip on their helmet, is recorded at checkpoints, and receives a medal and a personal diploma upon completion.
