Batavia United Way Bat Race 5K & 10K

The Batavia United Way Bat Race 5K & 10K is a Halloween-themed running and walking event in downtown Batavia, Illinois, starting at River and State Street near 31 North River Street. This October race features a 10K, a 5K, and a kids' quarter-mile fun run. The main distances include separate entries for adults and students. The event is chip-timed and welcomes more than just fast runners; walkers, students, families, and children are all accommodated. The course follows the Fox River Bike Path, offering a riverfront route through Batavia instead of a standard road loop. Participants come from approximately 30 nearby zip codes, and the race has been held for over ten years. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in both the 5K and 10K, and all participants receive a finisher medal. Costumes are encouraged, with prizes for group, duo, adult, and child categories. Food and snacks are also available on race day.
