Breakthrough Challenge

The Breakthrough Challenge is a charity bike ride through Eastern Pennsylvania’s Oley Valley, established in 2013 to support cancer research at Penn Medicine’s Abramson Cancer Center. It emphasizes fundraising alongside riding: every dollar raised by participants goes directly to cancer research, and the event recently raised $350,000 in one edition. The route utilizes the rural roads of the Oley Valley instead of a city course, focusing the day on a long ride through farmland and small-town Pennsylvania. Since its inception, the Breakthrough Challenge has directed over $3.1 million to the Abramson Cancer Center and supported 63 research projects, providing the ride a clear purpose beyond the finish line.
