The HoosierMan Triathlon begins at Riddle Point Park on Lake Lemon, near Bloomington, Indiana. Racers start at 8:00 AM following a mandatory beach briefing. This USAT-sanctioned, chip-timed event is limited to 400 participants, maintaining a smaller scale than major city triathlons. Competitors can choose between a Sprint Triathlon (500-yard swim, 15-mile bike, 3.1-mile run) or an Olympic Triathlon (1500-meter swim, 25-mile bike, 6.2-mile run). A Sprint Duathlon, starting with a 1-mile run, is also offered, alongside Sprint and Olympic Aquabike options concluding at Transition 2. Sprint and Olympic triathletes have the option to form two- or three-person relay teams. Participants must be at least 12 years old by the end of the race year.
The swim takes place in Lake Lemon. The bike course follows rolling roads in the Appalachian foothills outside Bloomington. Olympic-distance cyclists will encounter a flatter section of approximately 10 miles on Anderson Road before turning back. The run course is situated along Lake Lemon and features significant hills, with about 65 percent of the route being inclined. Packet pickup and registration are exclusively on race morning, with the park opening early for participants, contributing to the event's concentrated, single-day format. All participants receive a race shirt, and all finishers are awarded a medal.
