The Nun Run is a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk held at the UMBC Campus Quad in Baltimore. Both distances begin shortly after 8 a.m. in September. The event supports St. Martin's Home and the Little Sisters of the Poor Baltimore. Virtual 5K and 1-mile options are available for those unable to attend in person. It is designed as a community charity race, welcoming walkers, parish groups, teams, families with strollers, and age-group competitors.
The course starts and finishes on the UMBC Quad, with parking available at UMBC Commons Garage. Race-day packet pickup opens early on site. The morning features a warm-up led by the Oriole Mascot, music from DJ Ray, an opportunity to visit with the Little Sisters, post-race refreshments, and live entertainment. Awards are presented to the top overall male and female finishers, age-group winners, the parish with the most registered runners, and the fastest qualifying team, which earns the Blisters for Sisters plaque. The Little Sisters of the Poor, founded in 1839, serve elderly poor individuals in over 30 countries, making the Baltimore race directly connected to their mission of providing homes, daily care, and dignity to older people.
