The Quail Trail 5K is a 5,000-meter cross-country race held at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, starting on an October morning. Participants, including runners and walkers, navigate a USA Track & Field-certified course. This ensures accurate distance measurement, even though the terrain is more natural than a typical road race.
The course follows paths through the plantation's grounds and woodlands, featuring surfaces like pea gravel, grass, dirt, red clay, and asphalt, along with varied terrain. Leashed dogs are permitted, and strollers can be used on the course. Children are welcome, with younger participants needing to remain with an adult. Spectators are encouraged to attend. Proceeds from entries benefit the Pebble Hill Foundation’s Preservation Fund, supporting historic preservation, education, and wildlife conservation efforts on the property.
