The Race For Hope 5K and 1 Mile begins at Operation New Hope’s historic Springfield headquarters in Jacksonville. The 5K starts at 8am, followed by the 1 Mile Fun Run at 9am. This community run and walk is for all ages and abilities, presented by the Fraternal Order of Police. It is organized to raise funds for Operation New Hope’s efforts with individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration.
The course travels through Springfield, a notable Jacksonville neighborhood, and incorporates sections of the Emerald Trail. Following the race, participants 21 and older are invited to the race afterparty at Strings Sports Brewery next door, which includes a complimentary 10oz beer. The event benefits Operation New Hope, Florida’s Statewide Reentry Network. Since 1999, this organization has provided workforce training, job placement, mental health services, and community violence intervention. Its programs have assisted over 20,000 justice-impacted Floridians in the last 27 years.
