The Side Pockets .5K Beer Run for KHS is a short charity beer run starting at Side Pockets Sports Bar in Wichita, Kansas, near Kellogg and Tyler. The entire course measures just 0.5K: one-third of a mile, 546 yards, or 1,640 feet. It begins in the morning in early June. Organizers estimate that even walking the course takes about nine minutes, with completion expected in under 15. This event resembles a brief bar gathering with a short walk or run more than a typical road race. Participants receive a limited-edition shirt, a finisher medal, a sponsor swag bag, and two drink tickets. Drink options include Coors Banquet, Yuengling Flight, hard seltzer, or sports hydration drinks. Following the run, bib numbers are drawn for sponsor prizes, such as tickets to the Kansas City Royals and Wichita Wind Surge. Proceeds benefit the Kansas Humane Society, whose team will be present with adoptable pets and will provide information on services like adoption, animal rescue, low-income spay and neuter assistance, community outreach, and pet rehoming.
