The Doug Garley Memorial 50km Handicap is a road cycling race held in late May at Learmonth, Victoria. The 50km event uses a handicap format, with riders starting in groups rather than simultaneously. Entry is restricted to current Eureka Cycling Club members who possess an AusCycling racing licence, have sufficient prior club race participation, and have fulfilled any necessary marshal duties. Participants register online, state their usual scratch grade, and provide handicappers with details for fair start positions.
The race concludes on Davenport Road and features a hard-packed unsealed section suitable for standard road bike tires. As it is not held on closed roads, participants must adhere to Victorian road rules and use non-powered road bikes with curved handlebars. The event commemorates Doug Garley, a significant figure in Victorian cycling associated with clubs such as Blackburn, Ballarat Sebastopol, Carnegie Caulfield, and Eureka, who mentored numerous riders in road and track disciplines. The victor is awarded a trophy crafted from volcanic rock from Saddleback Hill. The day concludes at the clubhouse with award presentations, communal food, and refreshments.
