About
The SachsenwaldLauf is a community race in Schwarzenbek, situated between Hamburg and Lübeck, with most of the running taking place within the Sachsenwald forest. It is organized by TSV Schwarzenbek and a volunteer team of runners. The program offers several options: short children’s races, 3.6 km, 5.6 km, 10 km, and a half marathon. The atmosphere is more of a local running festival than a large city road race, with spectators and day-of-event services arranged around the races.
The course features runnable forest and woodland paths, with only small sections of asphalt, placing it between a road race and a full trail event. The Sachsenwald, Schleswig-Holstein’s largest continuous forest area, defines the race: long stretches under trees instead of loops through town streets. The event is designed for a wide range of participants, from children and first-timers to club runners tackling the longer distances. The family-friendly setup also makes it easy for non-runners to attend for the day.
