IX Trail Montán begins and ends in Montán, a mountain village in Castellón, within Spain’s Valencian Community. The event offers three routes: a 13 km Sprint covering 650 m of elevation gain, a 34 km Elite race with 1,800 m of climbing, and a 13 km walking route. The longest race commences first in the early morning, with the short race and walking route following. The day is structured around participants heading into the same hills at varying paces.
The course is predominantly off-road, consisting of approximately 80% paths, 23% tracks, and a minimal amount of road. The short race is designed for individuals new to trail running, whereas the 34 km route presents a more challenging mountain test. It is a qualifying event for the 50K UTMB World Series circuit, ITRA Mountain Finisher points, and the National League. This marks the ninth edition, and the starting field includes novices, seasoned trail runners, and walkers, reflecting a diverse range of participants.
