San Silvestre Competeña, held in late December, is a popular road race in Cómpeta, Malaga province. It begins and ends in Plaza Almijara. The adult race covers 8.5 km through the town's streets. Younger runners participate in school races with distances ranging from 340 meters to 1,720 meters, depending on age group.
The event is included in the Provincial Popular Race Circuit, organized by the Provincial Council of Malaga. It is co-organized with the Cómpeta City Council, its Sports Department, the Andalusian Athletics Federation, and the provincial council. Now in its ninth edition, the race uses the federation’s timing system for official results. It maintains the traditional end-of-season San Silvestre atmosphere with trophies, participant medals, and technical shirts for those who register early.
