The Montée de Chambles covers 11 km from Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert to Chambles in the Forez region of the Loire, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It takes place in the quiet period between Christmas and New Year’s, when cold, fog, and winter conditions are common. The course ascends approximately 250 meters, making it short enough for a fast pace but with a significant climb. Its full name is Montée Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert-Chambles, but it is commonly known as Montée de Chambles.
The start is located in Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, with race headquarters at the Salle de l’Embarcadère on Avenue des Barques. The event also features a 13 km walk. Runners register online via Logicourse, while walkers sign up at L’Embarcadère. A complimentary bus returns participants to the start after the point-to-point course, which connects two villages instead of returning to the origin. Although the field is capped online, a recent edition saw 1,500 runners at the start, setting a participation record despite the cold and fog. Awards are presented to the top three overall finishers in the women's, men's, cadets, and cadettes categories.
