Trail du Saint Jacques - 86 km 2026

The Grand Trail du Saint Jacques is an 86 km trail race with 3,500 m of climbing on the Saint James pilgrimage route toward Santiago de Compostela. It takes place in June as part of Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB, a race weekend centered on the Le Puy-en-Velay to Saugues section of the route. The 86 km race is one option within a program that also includes a 139 km ultra, a 55 km Monistrail, 28 km and 12 km races, and a 28 km hiking option. The course follows and runs alongside the old pilgrimage path, offering runners a long day of hills, trails, villages, signs, and encounters instead of a straightforward mountain race. The event has connected trail running with the cultural and spiritual history of the Santiago route since 2012, using the concept of a “spiritrail” quest. It is part of the UTMB World Series, attracting runners seeking Running Stones and a path toward the finals in Chamonix, with charity bibs providing an alternative entry method.
